24: Live Another Day Episodes 1-5 Press Release

24: Live Another Day Press Releases

FOX has announced their May sweeps lineup, including details about the first four five episodes of 24: Live Another Day. While the synopsis for the premiere is a bit vague, the next ones get a bit more specific, so consider this is your spoiler warning – read on at your own risk.

24: Live Another Day Episodes 1 & 2 (“Day 9 – 11:00 AM-12:00 PM/12:00 PM-1:00 PM”)

Airs Monday, May 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)

Set and shot in London, the suspenseful event series once again will follow the exploits of heroic Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), as he attempts to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever. Retaining the real-time, nail-biting, fast-paced format with split screens and interweaving storylines, the highly-anticipated series also stars Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane reprising their original roles. Newcomers to the series include Yvonne Strahovski, Benjamin Bratt, Tate Donovan, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Michael Wincott.

24: Live Another Day Episode 3 (“Day 9 – 1:00 PM-2:00 PM”)

Airs Monday, May 12 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) – Time Period Premiere

Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) continues her hunt for Jack, as President Heller (William Devane) prepares to address Parliament after a devastating attack. Margot Al-Harazi (guest star Michelle Fairley) proves she is willing to sacrifice anything for revenge.

24: Live Another Day Episode 4 (“Day 9 – 2:00 PM-3:00 PM”)

Airs Monday, May 19 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)

The terror threat escalates as Jack heads for the U.S. Embassy with the CIA closing in on him. Meanwhile, Margot asserts her authority with unthinkable force; President Heller makes an impassioned speech to Parliament; and Kate takes matters into her own hands.

24: Live Another Day Episode 5 (“Day 9 – 3:00 PM-4:00 PM”)

Airs Monday, May 26 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)

An unlikely duo joins forces to forestall an impending attack. The terrorist reveals her demands. The President orders a military lockdown, but it may be too late.

Sounds pretty action-packed and Margot seems like a force to be reckoned with. Keen observers may notice that the season now starts at 11:00AM rather than 12:00PM – it’s been bumped up an hour. Each of these episodes will also encore (repeat) on Fridays at 8:00 PM.

This is gonna be freakin’ awesome!

Only two more weeks to go!

Almost there. Fresh episodes of 24 even rehashed a bit of the same old beat anything on TV.

I’m betting episode 11 and 12 will go on the same night too, like 1 and 2

See, I just don’t get this rehash argument from some regarding ’24’… they’ve been ‘rehashing’ plots in the Bond films for years – and I say that as a MASSIVE fan of those films – it’s true that some story beats were reused over the nine years ’24’ was on the air but they always fit the context of the story at the time. I think some people are expecting HoGo and team to reinvent the wheel, and when they don’t (and neither should they), some say ’24’ isn’t as good as earlier seasons, they did not reinvent the ’24’ wheel for Season 5 and that was loved and acclaimed by one and all!

I just think some people might/almost certainly will criticize ‘Live Another Day’ for effectively doing what it says on the tin; namely, being an insanely entertaining slice of television drama and not curing cancer or ushering in world peace, besides, what would Jack do with himself if the latter event ever happened?

I still have some qualms about how the writers will handle the time jumps this time out, that hopefully it won’t feel jarring or disjointed in detriment to the overall flow of the narrative, but I’m willing to cut them some slack and see how it all plays out, let’s hope others will do the same…

24 and Bond are very different animals. Audiences go to see Bond for that same magic wonderful formula, the astons, the gadgets, the girls, the q/m briefings and ott villains, those are all essential ingredients for a Bond movie lovers experience and have been since 1964. 24 otoh started off as a taught suspense thriller with surprises around every corner, you simply can’t maintain that if you repeat yourself every season.

I think that, for the most part, the way they’ve “rehashes” things had been pretty good so far. I love seasons 1-5 and season 7, and seasons 6 and 8 have sort of grown on me. So all in all, 24 is pretty freaking underrated.

From what has been released so far, it looks like 24: Live Another Day will combine a lot of the “signature” elements of 24, with some original storylines that will distinguish it from previous seasons. The storylines involving Margot and her daughter seeking revenge against Heller, and Kate trying to find redemption look fantastic, and the Hacker group organization is very different than anything they’ve done before. The London setting will also give the show a completely different feel than the previous seasons. I think it’s going to be fantastic!

Sorry for my other post that made me look like a partial illiterate; I was typing in a hurry and didn’t get a chance to proof it.

With that said, I totally agree with you!

Chlojack: I’m sorry, but what are those “original story lines” you are talking about? Margot seeking revenge against Heller sounds pretty much like the Drazens seeking revenge againts David Palmer back on Season 1. And Kate trying to find redemption sounds a lot like Renee Walker trying to redeem herself on Day 8. Kate herself sounds like a blonde version of Renee. And her name it’s not even original, there was a Kate back on Day 2.
Nothing about LAD sounds original or fresh except the location.

Well I guess the Kate/Renee comparisons are going to be inevitable as both are female agents, but I think the similarities end there. The only character Kate has been compared to so far has been Jack Bauer (specifically season 1 Jack), which is not surprising for those who have seen Yvonne Strahovski in Chuck (her character in Chuck was more like Jack than Renee). I never saw Renee as the female Jack. She was IMO the heart of season 7, and a perfect match for Jack, but she wasn’t Jack.

Also, I have no problem with 24:LAD having similar plot structure/elements as previous seasons, as it wouldn’t be 24 without them. As long as they aren’t doing an exact remake of previous plots and characters, which I don’t think they are. Kate’s storyline about having to redeem herself because of her husband’s betrayal, and fighting to save her job is not similar to Renee’s storyline at all. Margot seeking revenge isn’t a total remake of the Drazen storyline, as A. The Drazens didn’t launch major terrorist attacks against the population and B. She isn’t also seeking revenge on Jack Bauer or his family.

Also, as Gerry Mader pointed out, even the beloved season 5 wasn’t a reinvention of 24. There were plenty of “rehashed” elements including:

-Terrorists targeting Los Angeles with a WMD
-CTU being attacked and decimated
-Traitors inside the administration (Cummings)
-A mole inside CTU (Spenser Wolff)
-The major terrorism threat mostly resolved by episode 15/16, followed by a conspiracy storyline in the final 8-9 episodes
-Jack trying to find a recording that will implicate the main conspirators behind the day’s attacks
-Someone from Jack’s past being one of the terrorists
-The CTU/Division director making a heroic sacrifice to save others (Lynn McGill)

Regardless of how often 24 has “rehashed” previous storylines or plot elements, I’ll take it over the dozens of crime of the week procedurals which stick to the same formula every single week.

Totally agree with what you’re saying.

I think as long as the plot lines make sense and all work together like they did in Season 5, LAD will be awesome!

Yeah I feel the same way. I think the 12 episode format will help them tell a much tighter story and help them avoid a lot of the things that plagued previous seasons. This will likely be the only time that 24 will ever had one big bad from start to finish, as every other season always had an “ultimate big bad” emerge in the second half of the season. That’s one element that was repeated in every season that likely won’t be in LAD. The other major complaint that people had: annoying subplots also shouldn’t be a factor in the 12 episode format.

wake me up after two weeks

So the first four epesoides are 4 hours straight with no breaks.

I don’t think fans want to see something totally different, they want to see action, explosions, suspense, twists, charismatic villains, split screens, and ticking clock, and above all a badass Jack, tortured by the impossible choices he have to make and torturing some bad guy, and his faithful Chloe helping him to save the day…

I agree.

I love you Jack Bauer! Dammitt!!

Awesome, I look forward to the beginning !!! 24!, The best series !!!

Impresionante, espero con interés el comienzo! 24!, La mejor serie !!!

We’ll looking forword to watching this the jack is back

This is gonna be AWESOME….now I wonder is this a one time thing or will it be back into a series as it was? Let’s hope it’s back for a long time!

Updated the post with the synopsis on episode 5 which sounds interesting.

Calling it now- The “Unlikely duo” are Adrian and Jack.

What if Jack is still at the U.S. Embassy and the duo is Kate and Chloe? That’d be cool.

Would Jack and Kate qualify as an unlikely duo, since they are supposed to be “enemies” during the first few episodes?

So the first five hours without time jumps? Interesting, but odd.

Not that it’s important or anything… but wasn’t Episode 1 supposed to start at 12:00 p.m., not 11:00 a.m.? It even said so on the Script. Guess they changed that last minute.
