This is great so far! Feel like the good ol’ days again, I just hope the plotline with Isaac does tie into the main plot and isn’t just a separate unrelated plot like the ones with Keith Palmer in Season 1 or Alan Miliken in Season 3. I would love to see Carter go badass like Jack Bauer and truly enhance his interrogation of a suspect. I’m pretty sure Nila isn’t working for the terrorists – that would be too politically incorrect for TV.

Finally while I love how true to the original 24 this is without Jack, I hope they realize Eric Carter isn’t Jack and doesn’t have to be a tragic character. I do hope there is a happy ending in this season.

Try as I did, I couldn’t buy into Hawkins as a believable action hero. Several casting choices aren’t resonating yet (Miranda Otto seems to just be picking up where she left off on ‘Homeland’ S5).

I wonder who’s the mole – Keith Mullins or Nilaa Mizrani. Shocking moment – poor Drew brutally murdered by his high school chemistry teacher.

One of my biggest gripes with the latter seasons of 24 was Chloe ALWAYS being on hand to tech-cheat Jack through almost all situations.

Carter being holed up in the evidence room with support pulled and nobody there to tech him through it made me think of the first 2 seasons when Jack had to use his wits to get out of seemingly impossible situations, which makes me very happy.

Not happy about all the “because I’m a black man” shit, fuck off with all that!

Agreed!!! Why bring racist views into an otherwise great show?

Well he’s not wrong…..

Reminds me of the eighth episode in season 8 when Jack had to fight his way out of the Red Square compound. Fuck, I love that season.

Season 8 would’ve been a far better season to end Jack’s story on!

Hear, hear XAM!

It qould be atm.. if they had closed off season 9 properly that would have been a good endinh.. but to leave it off like this.. hell no

Quould.. means would. And endinh is ending.

I have to say, Carter in the evidence room was a few minutes at the end of two hours of Andy Shalowitz tech-ing him through everything, including ridiculous “4D visualisations” of an entire street just to read a number off a bus (which the imagery presumably existed already in order to make the visualisation).

And that concludes the two-night premiere. Really good so far! The stakes for Eric are getting higher with his emotions and conscience – as opposed to Jack Bauer, but different – in a good way. Even one of the SHOCKERS got me gasping for air – won’t say! Besides, I am extremely happy with the editing of the “Previously on 24” recap, which remains faithful to the original series, along with the “Events occur in real time” caption being placed directly underneath “The following takes place between” for both the first two episodes; I hope they’ll retain that for the remainder of the series. In the meantime, we all know that much more unpredictability and twists will come in the forthcoming weeks…

Like the current issues being addressed so far in these episodes

This agent Locke character reminds me of Ronnie from S4 but could be more important in the grand scheme of things

Interesting

Locke is basically the white, alpha male Chad douchebag with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, who has to die/be sacrificed by the writers to the PC gods in order for Carter to take his place in CTU.

Personally, I like Locke because out of all the characters in 24 history he looks like me the most – but yeah, he’s a goner for reasons stated above.

Are you ready for his gay relationship subplot with Andy? ;)

I think if I was going to get into a gay relationship, I could do better than Andy. But who knows? Maybe Locke needs a little sensitivity in his life.

Just watched it again. Yes this new cast has good potential and has me hooked. Fair play to the guys for trying something new and different while trying to keep the old in there somehow.

Personally, I’ll give this Eric Carter a chance but deep down, I’m not as hooked to his lead character as I was with Jack. Right now, the events elsewhere and other plots are more of interest to me. I didn’t get that with Jack. So yes, 24: Legacy interests me but not because of Eric Carter.

Hope there will be at least some references to the past to make this series more belivable. Tony is one. Hope there’ll be others toog

I loved the original series 24 and was easily jooked by the story line on the new series…..u til the writers had to go put in their “poor black man” routine with the two racist white (of course) cops. I was willing to accept a black guy as the hero in fact the issue of race never entered my mind as I began watching the show. The issue of casting a wimpy non-threatening guy as the lead did cross my mind. Did they only interview chorusline workers? Anyway Hollywood, quit ramming your racist opinions down my throat! Thank you

“Now, horrible, racist white cops! Next time you use force against a black man resisting arrest, you might want to consider that he’s probably saving the country from terrorists.”

This is like watching a student production. The wooden acting, the terrible dialogue…what happened to 24?

It’s the same director, writers, etc. You’re just saying that because it doesn’t have Kiefer.

Absolutely not. I wish they’d have phased Jack Bauer out years ago. I’ll admit Kiefer was a strong actor, especially compared to this current cast.

The writing has steadily got worse over the years, but now it really shows when they’re attempting to create their own characters rather than just use ones created by the better writers of the earlier seasons. No established equity to freeload on now, Evan Katz and Manny Coto! Your bad writing is eviscerated in all its mediocrity.

Every time Corey Hawkins stops a sentence mid-word because he is so faux “angry”…I die a little. That kind of acting is on display at every amateur dramatics production.

Also for an army ranger he is too much wound up. They want too much within 1 episode. It feels too fast

Did anyone notice “Monicamarie Hawkins” as the police desk clerk? I’m kind of debating whether it was Corey’s sister, or just him in a wig:

Nice catch, they look almost identical haha. It actually appears to be Corey’s mother (who is a police officer in real life too). That is neat.

Why have you posted this when 24 Spoilers has it on the front page?

Has the Veronica Cartwright character been replaced by the Gerald McRaney one as the parent of John Donovan? Because her casting was announced several months before his, yet here he is talking about “when your mom was alive.”

Or is there a twist coming where it turns out they thought she was dead but isn’t? I’m confused.

If they’re both his parents, then his mother was probably knocking off some big Indian chief on the side.

I suppose Cartwright could be his stepmother if her character still exists.

Weak acting, bad characterization, casting was average at best, and the story was nothing to write home about. After over 200 hours of Jack (which is why 24, the original 24 is my favorite show ever), after watching the first 2 nights of this crap, I cannot begin to get into this show. But that is just me. I would have preferred to have FOX end 24 after season 8 or 9 with a decent conclusive ending. All I can hope for now is that Kiefer comes back in the lead role for one more season, but i doubt that will happen.

24 russia.. i can imagine it. And i want kiefer back for 1 more season. A movie too ose his story would feel like shortchanging his character.. and a cameo on legacy where he explains everything would be awful. Jack deserves one more day one more season.

On a positive note the show looks like the old days of 24 and im happy about that. But hawkins is acting too much like bauer and i can just picture those episodes with jack.

I’m thinking now that would be pretty obvius that Donovan is the one who has been in contact with terrorists.
