FOX announces 24 and Prison Break crossover series “24: Escape Plan”

JACK BAUER AND MICHAEL SCOFIELD TEAM UP IN THE ALL-NEW EVENT SERIES “24: ESCAPE PLAN” PREMIERING 2018 ON FOX

It’s been years since JACK BAUER (Kiefer Sutherland) surrendered himself to the Russians in exchange for CHLOE O’BRIAN. When clues suggest that he might still be alive and is being held in a Moscow prison, CTU enlists the help of MICHAEL SCOFIELD (Wentworth Miller) to engineer his most important escape ever.

Joining Michael will be two of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees, THEODORE “T-BAG” BAGWELL (Robert Knepper) and LINCOLN BURROWS (Dominic Purcell). Computer expert CHLOE O’BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub) quarterbacks the mission to save her best friend with TONY ALMEIDA (Carlos Bernard) also pulled back into the action. But escaping prison is just the beginning. Can the team escape the country in just 24 hours?

“Our producers came up with a really compelling and organic story for this crossover event series,” said Fox Television Group CEO Dana Walden. “I know that our actors on both shows are looking forward to interacting with each other. It was just a fresh and fun idea for them and they were both on board right off the bat.”

The project will retain the real-time, pulse-pounding, fast-paced format with split screens and complex interweaving storylines, with each episode representing one hour of an eventful day.

Originally premiering on November 6, 2001, “24” was nominated for a total of 73 Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Over eight seasons, Kiefer Sutherland garnered seven Emmy Award nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actor – Drama Series. While the series gained global recognition, Sutherland’s portrayal of the legendary character penetrated the American psyche like no other dramatic television character to become part of the cultural lexicon.

The crossover event series will premiere April 1st, 2018 only on FOX.

This would in fact be brilliant, even if the two shows can’t co-exist in the same universe (different presidents). It would be pretty much exactly what fans want. But we can’t have that, can we? It’s funny how an april fool’s joke is more compelling than what they’re putting out. And if the writing staff consisted of mostly Prison Break writers, even better.

PB is already jumping the shark by resurrecting Michael for the new season, despite the fact he should be double dead (brain thing + electrocution). So this crossover joke isn’t that far out there. The new PB is still going to blow 24 Legacy to pieces, creatively. It’s sad for me to say this cause I love 24. And Legacy is entertaining. But it’s not breaking any new ground. Legacy doesn’t take any risks and doesn’t show me anything I’ve not seen before.

I never thought I’d ever be more excited about Prison Break than a season of 24 that has Tony in it, but here we are.

Season 2 of Prison Break was essentially the Fox River escapees being pursued by a hybrid of Jack Bauer and Dirty Harry, which is why I’ve loved the idea of a 24/PB crossover for years.

The company/bluetooth group/red dots also could conceivably be the same organisation.

Prison Break Seasons 1 & 2 was some of the best TV had to offer at the time, IMO. Went a bit downhill in S4 but it was still quite entertaining. It’s too bad Mahone won’t be in this new season. Though, his character was definitely more fun when he chased the guys, yeah. Maybe that’s why they left him out.

Just realised the date lol!! Yer blagging bastard haha. How great would that have been though?

Ah god, dammit, I thought this was true, until I saw the date, I thought this was posted at midnight on April 2 lol. Not good, I was looking forward to this, got my hopes up! :(

April Fool’s or not, this would be an awesome crossover Idea!

This needs to happen.

We may look back on this day as the catalyst for the greatest season of 24 ever made, born of an April fools joke… but bollocks, even if they entertained the idea they’d quickly push it aside, because attacks, because moles, because CTU, because fuck you.

Yes

Ha ha. Actually my family was very glum once we saw it wasn’t real. We don’t need prison break, but the rest of it is absolutely necessary!

What a let down after glancing the headline. The fact that this web site proposed this as a April Fool’s gag is pretty damning of the current 24: Legacy. I hope the stars of the show don’t see this because it is not their fault but I hope the writers of the show do see this and take the hint.

Speaking of the writers, what could be logical explanations of why this writing seems so sub-par by 24 standards? Is it because they brought in some new people and they had a poisonous effect? And with all of the 24 veteran producers involved, how did they let it happen right under their noses? I can’t believe Keifer Sutherland didn’t speak up and try to intervene. Was it because of budget constraints? And it still has not been explained why Veronica Cartright’s character was cut out of the story?

Glad you guys all liked it, this was a last second idea that I only had about 15-20 minutes to work on (image included) since I had to go somewhere. It was fun to do.

I was originally going to to do a different April Fools joke (“Edgar Stiles returns in 24 Legacy Finale”) but never actually wrote the post. So here’s the crappy photoshop job for that one haha:

I can only assume Edgar’s Mother was having an affair with the the gardener 9 months before his sister was born.

It’s actually his cousin. This photoshop is pretty cute, though. Still waiting for Mariana to go the way of Edgar and his mother. Death to biological or radioactive shit runs in the family. Maybe they were hoping to kill her in a sequel-season.

Mariana said Edgar taught her everything she knows, or something to that effect. Makes you wonder how old she was at the time, considering some 14 years passed (I think) between Edgar’s death and Legacy. She looks mid-20ish to me now.

yes jack bauer is back!

LOL I actually have a fanfiction idea for a crossover between 24 and Sons of Anarchy that takes place between Seasons 4 and 5 of 24. This is before Jimmy Smits first appears in SOA. In this plot, while Jack Bauer is still off the grid, he discovers that that SAMCRO has unknowingly smuggled parts for a biological warfare device into the U.S. and that is scheduled to be delivered to a Syrian refugee that only Jack knows is really a terrorist. Now Jack and the Sons must work together to track down the weapon and stop the terrorists from using it in a massive attack on America.

This spin off is already horrible so who knows if a cross over would be in the same category good thing it’s just a joke?

24: Legacy is not rubbish, it’s brilliant. If you think it’s rubbish, why you watching it now when it’s towards the end of the season? Like I said before, you lot moaners would stop way before now. This spin off is fresh with 24.

Not the guy you you’re replying to, but IMO Legacy is entertaining, but certainly not brilliant. We’ve seen this all before with Jack, except it was more exciting then. I’m personally watching it because, like I said, it’s still entertaining and Tony is my favourite character. I care about 24 and want it to be brilliant. Legacy had its moments, but if you could point out to me why it’s brilliant, that’d be fantastic. I want to enjoy it more than I currently do. As it is, I’m just incredibly disappointed with how little they’re using Tony after hyping his return up on social media. And they’ve been barely developing the characters at all. It’s hard to care when I still don’t know these people.

Things I like about Legacy would be the fight in the smoke in the first episode. The bridge explosion with Amira. Andy is cool. Tony’s facial expressions. Huh… Other characters have potential. Jimmy Smits is a fantastic actor. But they’re just wasting his talents, just like they’re wasting Carlos Bernard. Hopefully that changes next episode, but I have my doubts.

I think all of us here want 24 to be good. It’s important to talk about why it is or isn’t as good as it used to be. The original 24 used to shock me and surprise me. Legacy hasn’t done this, except for when Amira’s boyfriend’s corpse suddenly got up and ran out to the soccer field. I don’t know what it says about 24 when that storyline is more surprising than the protagonist’s. >_>

That hand-to-hand fight scene in the smoke/dirt cloud from the pilot episode is still my favorite part of Legacy so far. And that wasn’t even in the script, it was something that Stephen Hopkins seemingly changed up while filming.

Yes that was a nice fight scene in the beginning, and I personally found the Amira storyline rather compelling though some people didn’t. It wasn’t as good as the Behrooz storyline but I liked it better than Marcos Al-Zacar, Simone Al-Harazi, and especially Ahhhkkkmed (that is one actor I can’t take seriously as a terrorist not after watching Harold and Kumar and Van Wilder). I like how they didn’t have her back down at the last moment or hesitate like Behrooz and Marcos.

Also think Sidra is very sexy, its probably Moran Atias’s hottest appearance, I liked her leather look here much more than her fancy dresses in Tyrant. I find Jadalla a better villain than Bierko or Kingsley. The subway station shootout was nice though it could have been longer and involved more men. And I liked how the subplot with Isaac did go into the main plot, unlike the subplots in Seasons 1 and 3 with Alan Miliken and Keith Palmer. I still don’t get the point of the plot with Keith Palmer and his shrink which had nothing to do with the main plot.

The scandal involving Keith was another expression of season one’s core theme – the struggle to separate the demands of our professional lives with our personal lives (including family) and the myriad consequences those entanglements can have.

Your mentioning of the subway station shootout reminds me of another thing I actually liked about Legacy: Eric getting hit by a car and immediately getting back up. Pretty badass. If they had more shit like that, it’d be fantastic.

That’s class. I had to do a double take on it. Not a bad series idea though.

Given how badly we all would have wanted it to be true (and fleeting hope that FOX would have come to their senses), I’d qualify the prank as cruel and unusual punishment….

Now if you had posted something like “FOX renews 24: Legacy for 10-year run”, I think we all would have immediately jumped to the “April Fools” joke!

I woke up this morning around 6, and saw I had an email notification about this article. I quickly started reading it, and I could not contain my excitement. The idea was/is simply brilliant. I then read the line about how Tony will also be back in action, and at that point, realized it was probably posted on April 1st, and was thus an April Fool’s Day joke. I immediately stopped reading and let out a huge “ah dammit!!!”

Unbelievable how you can come up with an idea for both 24 and Prison Break that’s infinitely better than anything Fox could or will ever come up with.

The best april fools joke would be the return of justin on this board :D hahaha

God, you came up with a cooler story idea than the writers have had in the entire season of 24 legacy.

My jaw actually dropped for a quick second! Nice job!

It’s April 3rd over here – sux being in a different time zone – DAMMIT!! Almost believed it

Rarely does an AF joke piss me off!

FUCK i wish this was real!!!!!!!

I know this is a April Fools Joke, but I want Jack to leave with good terms for the Russians. They should be a moment where the Russians want Jack to work with a Russian Agency to save the country and for that Jack gets immunity. At first I think Jack should be hesitant and say no and for that they offer him immunity.

I bet Tony saves Rebecca tomorrow night. Any takers?

Eric will probably fail to save Rebecca and Tony will probably arrive too late and be like “What happened here?”

That’s my prediction.

Then at the start of the following episode he wishes Eric good luck and leaves. And in the finale we get a short scene between Tony and Sidra, in which Sidra leaves Tony because he still has lingering feelings for Rebecca. Tony starts pouring beer into the cubs mug to numb the pain. Roll credits.

Tony will just shop online for some Mulch and other Gardening miscellany tomorrow night.

i believe tony will shock the world and save Rebecca tonight

Legit fooled me cuz 1) this seems like the kinda stupid desperate thing Fox would do and 2) I saw this on APRIL 3RD

if tony isn’t a hero saving rebecca tonight then 24 legacy should not be renewed

So should we cancel it then?

That’s funny. Does that mean she reads this website? If so, hey Mary Lynn!

I wouldn’t be surprised. Wonder if XAM will change his tune about Chloe. :p

LOL. Maybe he will. :D

Lmao https://twitter.com/Bampots/status/849190505858682880

This is too good. Lots of people on Twitter just reading the headline and not the article

Hahaha! You got me, you swines!! :-D

I could never get into 24, but I think I would like it better if I tried again. That happened with Stargate SG-1, and it ended up being my favorite franchise ever. Prison Break is also one of my favorite series, and this crossover sounds badass. I think you’ve stumbled onto something brilliant. Let’s make this happen.
